Jackie is a Korean American artist, currently living in the Southeast USA.

My life has been a jumble of cultures. As the adopted child of Ellis Islander families, I grew up in a cacophony of flavors, sounds, & personalities. As I got older I started to understand how unique my story was. I began to deep dive in to all of the cultures surrounding my life and found in many ways I still shared many of the same experiences.

art

I am a Korean American freelance artist. I have always had a compulsion to make, from clay to metal to wood. I recently had a brush with cancer. This limited my energy to live a normal life and also brought into sharp focus my want to make art.

For many artists, art is very personal. Many of my idols and my peers have used art as a way to explore and express their experiences: conflicts, pain, struggle, love… We don’t create because we think we are great, we create because we are flawed and thats what makes us human. Perfection leaves no room for connection. Imperfection acknowledges a need for something more.
