my roots
I am a Korean American freelance artist. I have always had a compulsion to make with anything I could get my hands on. After a brush with cancer I realized my limited energy and brought into sharp focus my want to make art.
Art is an expression of ourselves. A way to communicate wordlessly. It is a language we all speak naturally without realizing.
My life has always been a an amalgam of juxtapositions. I was born in Busan, Korea. I was a child immigrant. My life has defied stereotypes and yet it lives up to them completely. I have never tried to escape labels and boxes, because none could adequately encompass me. My work speaks about my experience as a transracial queerish person living in the United States. About histories and experiences lost to me and those around me…
